{Decor SOS: Wall Art}

I saw this huge brownstone image on made by girl's lovely blog last week and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. It's on the wall inside Coisas da Doris' store, but I can't see it online. Does anyone know where it's from, or, where I can find something similar? I love it and think it would look perfect in our new living room because there's a big white wall that needs filling asap!

{Decor SOS: Bulletin Boards}

I've been meaning to start one of these for quite some time and with moving to a new place (with new home office space included - errrrm major yay) it seems the perfect time to start. But how? Where? What should it look like? What works best? Judging by the swoonalicious blogs so many of you have, I bet lots of you stylish bloggers have bulletin boards more worthy of being referred to as inspiration walls. So, please share your tips and suggestions for what makes a good (and super stylish - obv) bulletin board. Here's some to die for examples that I like of varying styles. P.S. Hope to share pics of my home office soon - it's coming together nicely...I'm going for a masculine meets feminine space.

{Decor SOS: Rugs}

In my new living room I have a white two-seat Karlstad sofa, teamed with a multi-coloured striped armchair from IKEA. Yes, this is because I couldn't afford a Paul Smith one (!), but when this guy needs his brightly coloured stripes, this guy needs his brightly coloured stripes. So, the IKEA version it was. I don't want to rush into getting a rug until I am sure I've found The One, but I know the space is crying out for some further warmth, and something that will anchor the room and tie the armchair and sofa togather. Will Mr.Right-Rug ever come and save my living room from it's Decor SOS? Only with the advice from you guys! I'd love to hear some of your rug-related suggestions for this scheme, please!

{Decor SOS: Battered Stairs Seek Kind and Caring Update}

Newly retired stairs seek hard-wearing, faithful stair-covering for a quiet and relaxing retirement.
Willing to relocate, if the pattern's right.

Earlier this week Lesley emailed me with her Decor SOS to ask for advice on how to update her stairs. Currently they are painted, with a different design on each step, but have sadly become too worn due to years of use. Fear not, as this is the perfect excuse for a revamp, Lesley! My advice would be to...

...sand back the old paint and leave the stairs rustic and worn (P.S. I love this look!)

...or, paint a stripe down the middle in a chic colour (Converse trainers an optional extra...)

...you could get all typographical, too, by adding letters or numbers

...choose a patterned carpet - like this gorgeous hexagonal design - and use as a statement runner

...perhaps stripes are more your thing? Yeah? Then the Amalia or Andrup runner rugs from IKEA would be perfect, and with prices starting at £6.99 this is a very affordable option. Plus, it's easy to sew several together if one isn't long enough.

...keep things monochrome for a chic and sophisticated look (practical at hiding dirt, too!)

...finally, if you feel like jazzing things up a little, why not stick mirrored squares to each step?

Ok, friends, what would your lovely Decor SOS advice be for Lesley and her stairs?

{Decor SOS: I Need Your Help}

So, I've totally fallen for this Bell Jar table lamp from West Elm. All good so far. Until I realise West Elm don't ship to the UK. Gutted! This lamp would be perfect for my nightstand for a soft, comforting light. I'm not giving up though. I wondered if any of you knew of a lamp that looks like this from another store (that's in the UK or ships here)? I've been searching but as yet I've had no luck so I'd really appreciate your help.
